Although almost all of us are buried under piles of snow right now, it is time to think sunny and warm thoughts looking toward summer.

It is also time to get out our calendars and mark August 13-14-15 as date for our annual weekend workshop. The subject will be 'Dances of Austria' presented by Carol and Herb Traxler of Washington, D. C, as well as a session on 'German Sword Dance' taught by Karin Gottier. The workshop will take place at 'Folklore Village Farms' in Dodgeville, Wl.   (If we are lucky, the date might coincide with the weekend on which 'Lands End1 hold its mega warehouse sale!) Those who have been at Folklore Village know that it is a magical place in rural Dodgeville, situated among rolling hills of green meadows and corn fields next to a country road.

On the site are a number of historical places - the little red school house adorned inside with Norwegian Rosemaling;   the tiny country church in which Jane Fan/veil's grandfather was a minister, the black smith's shop that lends itself to all kinds of other crafts; and then there is the barn, the heart and center of Folklore Village. It is here where we dance and eat and socialize and greet old friends and make new ones. On the lower floor are craft rooms, exhibition space, a library and room to practice music, all with a view of the green hills and an occasional cow.

So if you want to have fun dancing, and also enjoy a mini-vacation in rural tranquility, Folklore Village is your place.
